St Mary Magdalene CoE School, Greenwich, became the lead school in a collaboration with Christ Church School in East Greenwich in 2013. The Greenwich Peninsula Campus required an expansion to their school grounds in the form of 4 No. Classrooms, a Dining Hall, Kitchen, Staff Offices and various additional rooms. Module-AR Limited were awarded the contract to design, manufacture & install the single storey modular building Primary School which consisted of 25 No. modules and a footprint of 825m².

The Secured by Design modular building school, which required just 9 weeks to manufacture, features Larch Timber cladding with a Plastisol (plastic coated steel) fascia, PCA (plastic coated aluminium) windows & external doors, entrance steps, a DDA Compliant ramp and a 36m long play area canopy with padded post protection & external cold water taps. This innovative and aesthetically-pleasing feature allows pupils a sheltered play area to encourage outdoor learning.

Internally the modular building features a 2.5m internal ceiling height, 45dB acoustic performance and consists of 2 No. Key Stage 1 Classrooms & 2 No. Reception Classrooms. Each Classroom was fitted with Polyflor XL Standard vinyl flooring for a hard-wearing and robust floor. A 120m² Main Hall with a servery hatch to the Kitchen, a Food/Art room (with cooker, freezer, fridge, dishwasher & washing machine), an entrance Lobby, Reception/General Office, Head Office, Meeting room & Staff Study, IT suite, Staff room, 2 sets of pupil WC's and wash facilities, Store room, Dining store, Dry Goods store, Internal PE store, Plant room, Staff Changing room & WC's, a Disabled WC and a Caretaker room with Roof Access Hatch (allowing access to the Mansafe Perimeter Roof Access lifeline system) complete the building layout.

Additional extras were fitted to the school to create a productive and comfortable working environment. Heat & Cool air conditioning, PIR lighting, maglocks to Corridor doors, finger guards to internal doors, internal window blinds, hat & coat hooks, interactive whiteboards, a Lightning Protection System, standalone fire alarm & intruder alarm systems, a main entrance canopy and an Electric Roller Shutter to the Kitchen servery are all examples of the design features chosen by the client.

Just 3 days were required for Module-AR Limited to deliver and install the modular building with minimal disruption to the school or the surrounding area.
