Module-AR Limited were awarded the contract, on behalf of Hertford Country Council, to design, manufacture and install 3 new School buildings - Galley Hill Primary School, Oxhey Wood Primary School and Walkern Primary School. Both Oxhey Wood and Walkern Primary School were designed with the same internal layout of 2 No. 60m² classrooms, a 33m² Break-out area, staff & student WC's and 2 No. Store rooms. Galley Hill Primary School accommodated 4 No. classrooms, associated WC's and Break-out area.

Each Classroom consisted of an open plan area with a dedicated wet area. Window blinds, white boards, large display boards, shelving and a circular glazed screen looking in to the Break-out area were also installed. The Breakout areas in each school were furnished with 4 more display boards, shelving units, 30 No. hat & coat hooks and associated benching for each Classroom.

All 3 School buildings surpassed the thermal requirements of current building regulations. The Secured by Design, Building Bulletin Compliant structures feature suspended ceilings, 3.5kN/m² floor loading, polysafe vinyl flooring to the wet areas and carpet tiles for all classroom spaces. Additionally, roof lights were fitted to all Break-out areas allowing natural daylight to brighten the inside of the building.

Externally, each building was clad in different multi-coloured Trespa - creating aesthetically pleasing buildings. 17.5° pitched roofs of interlocking concrete tiles and Plastisol (plastic coated steel) fascias were also installed.

Manufacturing all 3 buildings, a total of 24 No. modules and over 770m² overall footprint, took Module-AR Limited just 6 weeks. Even more astoundingly, each School building took just 2 days to install on site, greatly minimising site traffic & disruption to the existing school and local community. In total, just 18 weeks were required for Module-AR Limited to design, manufacture & install the 3 Schools which the client was extremely pleased with and allowed the Schools to start using their new buildings at the beginning of the new school term.
