Biffa is the leading nationwide integrated waste management business providing collection, treatment, recycling and technologically-driven energy generation services. The St Helens branch of Biffa required a 52 week hire building to be used as Office Accommodation and Site Welfare. Module-AR Limited were granted the contract and 6 No. AR3000 units were designed, manufactured and installed to completed the single storey building.

Biffa's new site in St Helens occupies a 4.2 hectare site. The site currently operates as a depot for the Collection division and the Special Waste division, with 14 No. Refuse Collection vehicles and 6 No. Tankers based there. Biffa has plans to extend the site and develop a Resource Management Centre which would incorporate a Material Recovery Facility (MRF), recycling bays, vehicle depot, offices, HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle) parking & fuelling, HGV cleaning, container storage, weighbridges and car parking.

To enable the new site to operate, Biffa required a modular office building for 9 No Staff & Welfare facilities for up to 30 drivers & operatives. Externally the Biffa structure features GRP (glass reinforced plastic) external walls, steel columns & external doors, Plastisol (plastic coated steel) fascia & canopy and UPVC lockable windows with restrictors. Inside the Office & Welfare Accommodation are various sized Offices, a Meeting room, Traffic/Delivery Office, Canteen, Lockers/Changing facilities with showers, WC's and a main Corridor linking each room. The flooring was constructed of a combination of Polysafe standard vinyl and Primavera Xtra carpet tiles.

Despite this being a hire building, Module-AR Limited installed additional extras such as standalone fire alarm and intruder alarm systems, manually operated roller shutters to doors & windows, vertical cream blinds, fluorescent lighting, Heat & Cool air conditioning and a multi-point water heater. A modular solution was chosen for the site due to the speed of erection compared to that of a traditional building. As Module-AR Limited are a preferred supplier to Biffa the contract to supply the facility was negotiated and successfully awarded. Additionally, as the planning permission for the site buildings is temporary, a modular building offers the flexibility to relocate, remove or modify the existing building to suit Biffa's future needs.

Only 1 day was needed to install the modules with a total project completion time of 7 weeks.
